Sofia Fotiadou

Sofia Fotiadou has a background in economics and  the pedagogical sector, though this hasn't stopped her from pursuing her passion for art. With several solo and group exhibitions, in her home country and abroad, Sofia’s work has earned international recognition and praise by art historians and art critics, such as: Mr Dimitris Delligiannis - Art History Professor at the University of Thessalia, Ms Faye Tzanetoulakou - Art Historian, Ms Chryssa Drandaki - Sociologist of Art and Ms Athina Shina - Art Historian and Professor at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.Sofia's art practice is influenced by great artists, such as Domenicos Theotokopoulos, Georgia O'Keeffe, Salvador Dali, Franz Gertsch, and Van Gogh, where their art motivated and inspired her in defining her own distinctive visual language paying attention to both detail and precision in execution.
Her favorite medium is oil paint on canvas, where she creates large to medium sized paintings exploring her visual language. Her subjects vary in content but are always consistent in their visual language. Sofia’s art is of the figurative with a dose of surrealism depicting animals, flowers, skulls, and female human figures, as her subjects. Sofia’s oil paintings are realistic in their technique, bringing attention to detail and vivid colors.
